Manny Ramirez approaching 500 Home Run mark
The countdown to Manny’s 500 home run has begun he is now at 496. Not anyone of Manny’s home runs will be dispusted as being steroid induced compared to other past recent players to shatter home run marks. Injecting sterroids well that just wouldn’t be manny being manny now would it?
Manny Ramirez is going to be a Hall of Famer and is one of the top right handed power hitters of all time. He will never be confused with Pete Rose as Charlie Hustle and plays the game with such a nonchalance matter but that is why we love him.
When he does hit his five hundredth home run I wonder how long he will stand at home plate and admire it? The umpire may have to kick him in his butt to get him to round the base paths.
I just hope it doesn’t get dragged out like most homerun milestones do. Keep on hitting Manny, you are the Man!
Rays Sweep Sox
James Shields held the Red Sox to two hits and went the distance to shut out the Sox 3-0 to win their 6th straight game. The Red Sox made the Tampa Ray’s pitching staff look like they were Cy Young over the weekend. I am sure they are looking forward to a day off after playing twenty consecutive days.
Red Sox lose 4th straight game
The Red Sox got a great performance from Clay Buckholtz who had a one hitter going into the eight inning until surrendering two runs from a Iwamura home run.
The Red Sox look like a tired team so early into the season. I am sure they are looking forward to a day off tomorrow before hosting the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The Sox wrap up the weekend series with Tampa today and try to avoid being swept by the Rays.
Sox lose to Tampa Rays in 11 innings
Ok my first live Red Sox game this year wasn’t the result I was happy with but was a great game. There was a little bit of everything. The Red Sox had their chance to have a really big 2nd inning when Garza was struggling and only ended up with three runs. The middle relief of Tampa kept the Sox in check the rest of the way. Ortiz struggled at the plate going 0-6. Manny and Kevin Cash were the only players productive at the offensive end.
I am not sure what the attendance was but there were probaly close to 65% Red Sox fans in the stands. It really feels like you are at a home game. Though when Tampa did win the game the Rays fans did make their presence known.
Red Sox kick off weekend series in Tampa
Ok although now that I am a Tampa native, my heart still bleeds Red Sox. Funny thing is I have more opportunity to catch the Red Sox live here in Tampa than I do in Boston. Even though Stub Hub makes it easy buying tickets for all the Fenway games, getting tickets here at Tampa there is a lot more alternatives and less expensive. I am looking forward going to tonights game and watching Tim Wakefield who has dominated the Rays in the past. Read more
David Ortiz Yankee curse jersey fetches $175,100 on Ebay auction
Construction worker Gino Castignoli dropped the jersey in cement at the construction site of the new Yankee stadium. When the Yankees found out about the jersey buried in two feet of cement from tipsters, they had the shirt dug up costing them $30,000.
Gino called the jersey the “Yankee curse”. He paid $200.00 for an authentic David Ortiz away jersey. It’s now worth a lot more than that.
The Yankees donated the shirt to the Jimmy Fund cancer fund. The Jimmy Fund chairman Mike Andrews a former Red Sox second baseman said the Jimmy Fund was “absolutely thrilled.”
“We extend our deep gratitude to the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox for coming together again in the fight against cancer,” he said in a statement.
A Mendon Massachusetts car dealer Kevin Meehan bought the shirt on Ebay auction for $175,100

Red Sox sellout 400 consecutive games
Red Sox have sold out 400 consecutive games at Fenway Park tonight, team record. It doesn’t look like its going to stop anytime soon, just try and get a ticket to one of the Red Sox games.
The MLB record belongs to the Cleveland Indians at 455 consecutive sellouts. Cleveland’s streak ended April 4th 2001 and lasted for six seasons.
The Red Sox have added thousands of seats in the last few years and still sell out. When John Henry bought the Red Sox, the capacity of Fenway was 36,298. Fenway has increased its capacity over the last few years to 38,805 this year. He plans to have a capacity over 39,900, doing this in increments in the next several years.
Capacity = standing room and seating
The Red Sox are still one of the hottest tickets you “can’t” find.
Matsuzaka scratched because of flu-like symptoms.
Matsuzaka scratched from tonight’s game vs. the Angels with the flu-like bug Lester getting the call on three days rest, Lester was scheduled to pitch tomorrow.
Beckett was scratched from last night’s game.
Matsuzaka joins Beckett, Varitek, Delcarmen, and Buchholz all with the same flu-like flu.
Josh Beckett out Pauley in!
Josh Beckett out for tonight’s game, stiff neck is the rumor. Pauley called up today from Pawtucket to pitch for Beckett in tonight’s game.
Second time this short season Beckett is out, first time strained back. Hopefully this is not a start of an injury season for him.
Third game in a row Veritek not starting, If Red Sox need a backup catcher tonight they said it would be Dustin Bedroia.
Game 21 Red Sox 8 Rangers 3
