Boston Red Sox Jon Lester no-hitter against the Kansas City Royals

Ok, you probably heard Boston’s Red Sox threw a no-hitter vs the Kansas City Royals.
How sweet it is when you do it at home in front of a screaming sell out crowd.
The ninth inning began with the sell out crowd standing and cheering Lester on (lots of pressure here). Lester started out by walking German, Pena grounded out to third, DeJesus grounded out to first for the second out. Then to the plate came Callaspo to the plate, again with the crowd going crazy he threw a 93 MPH fastball. Callaspro trying to make contact missed the fast ball game over.
Jon Lester clinched his fists and Jason Varitek ran out to Lester picked him up and gave him a huge hug. The rest of the Boston Red Sox players stormed the mound congratulating Lester on his no-hitter. Read more
Boston Red Sox sweep 3 games from Tampa Bay Rays
Last Week the Tampa Bay Rays swept three games from the Red Sox at Tampa. This week the Boston Red Sox returned the favor at ole Fenway faithfull sweeping three games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Red Sox bats have been quite but scored twenty six runs in three games. Got respectible pitching from Buchholz, Beckett, and Lester. The hitting was different at ole faithfull fenway with the Boston Red Sox pounding out 39 hits and 26 runs. Check out game by game summary and box scores click here.
The combined bats of Ellesbury, Pedroia, Ortiz, Ramirez, and Youkilis had 17 runs, 18 hits, 17 RBI’s, and 9 walks. Things change when the lead off batters ( Ellsbury, Badroia) get on with the big boys up next.
Sox take two out of three against Blue Jays
The Red Sox take the series against the Blue Jays winning two out of three. The Red Sox got great pitching throughout the series with great performances by Lester, Matsuzaka, and Tim Wakefield but in the final game of the series was unable to muster any runs against A.J Burnett. The Red Sox begin another weekend series against the First Place Rays yes I said First Place Tampa Rays who never been in first place this far into the season. Clay Buchholz will take the mound tonight.
Rays Sweep Sox
James Shields held the Red Sox to two hits and went the distance to shut out the Sox 3-0 to win their 6th straight game. The Red Sox made the Tampa Ray’s pitching staff look like they were Cy Young over the weekend. I am sure they are looking forward to a day off after playing twenty consecutive days.
Red Sox lose 4th straight game
The Red Sox got a great performance from Clay Buckholtz who had a one hitter going into the eight inning until surrendering two runs from a Iwamura home run.
The Red Sox look like a tired team so early into the season. I am sure they are looking forward to a day off tomorrow before hosting the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
The Sox wrap up the weekend series with Tampa today and try to avoid being swept by the Rays.
Sox lose to Tampa Rays in 11 innings
Ok my first live Red Sox game this year wasn’t the result I was happy with but was a great game. There was a little bit of everything. The Red Sox had their chance to have a really big 2nd inning when Garza was struggling and only ended up with three runs. The middle relief of Tampa kept the Sox in check the rest of the way. Ortiz struggled at the plate going 0-6. Manny and Kevin Cash were the only players productive at the offensive end.
I am not sure what the attendance was but there were probaly close to 65% Red Sox fans in the stands. It really feels like you are at a home game. Though when Tampa did win the game the Rays fans did make their presence known.
Red Sox kick off weekend series in Tampa
Ok although now that I am a Tampa native, my heart still bleeds Red Sox. Funny thing is I have more opportunity to catch the Red Sox live here in Tampa than I do in Boston. Even though Stub Hub makes it easy buying tickets for all the Fenway games, getting tickets here at Tampa there is a lot more alternatives and less expensive. I am looking forward going to tonights game and watching Tim Wakefield who has dominated the Rays in the past. Read more

Ortiz had two more doubles, three RBI’s, while Lugo reached bas all five times, 4-4 with a walk. Ellsbury has been tearing up the base paths with two more stolen bases.
Red Sox have won five in a row and nine of ten games.
Game 20 Red Sox 6 Rangers 5 Another Comeback Win For Sox
Ok I see a trend happening here. the Red Sox fall behind early then in the late innings rally to win in comeback fashion. There is nothing better in baseball than a comeback win and it seems this years Sox are setting the trend. Down 5-2 in the eight The Red Sox score four to rally back and beat the Rangers again to cap off the their fourth straight win. Manny was ejected in the second so the Sox were without their hottest hitter. Jonathan Pabelbon came in the ninth to record his seventh save.
