David Ortiz Yankee curse jersey fetches $175,100 on Ebay auction

Construction worker Gino Castignoli dropped the jersey in cement at the construction site of the new Yankee stadium. When the Yankees found out about the jersey buried in two feet of cement from tipsters, they had the shirt dug up costing them $30,000.

Gino called the jersey the “Yankee curse”. He paid $200.00 for an authentic David Ortiz away jersey. It’s now worth a lot more than that.
The Yankees donated the shirt to the Jimmy Fund cancer fund. The Jimmy Fund chairman Mike Andrews a former Red Sox second baseman said the Jimmy Fund was “absolutely thrilled.”

“We extend our deep gratitude to the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox for coming together again in the fight against cancer,” he said in a statement.

A Mendon Massachusetts car dealer Kevin Meehan bought the shirt on Ebay auction for $175,100

Yankees donate Ortiz Jersey to Jimmy Fund

Ok I must say as a Red Sox fan growing up I was born to hate the Yankees. But this story I must admit is a class move by the Yankee organazation. They are donating the famous buried David Ortiz jersey for an auction to help the Jimmy Fund. I will still to continue to hate the Yankees but had to commend them on this class act.

Game 16 Red Sox 9 Yankees 15

This game was a wild one. The Sox came back to tie the game and pull ahead after being down four runs in the fourth came up with a six spot in the fifth to take a two run lead, however that lead didn’t last long as the middle relief again couldn’t get the job done. Clay Buckholt performace was also rocky. Red Sox lose the first game of this two game series.

Game 14 Red Sox 6 Indians 4

Red Sox take the first game of three game series in comeback fashion with another big clutch home run by Manny Ramirez in the ninth. Ortiz had a couple of singles after having the previous game off. Hopefully this will help him get back on track. Jonathan Pabelbon came in the ninth to do what he does best and dominateand rack up another save and rack up another save.

Game 12 Red Sox 4 Yankees 3

This game was a pitching duel in the early innings with some great defense on both sides. Robinson Cano made a great play at second to turn double play that could have tuned into a big inning for the Sox. The Sox came up with their own defensive gem made by Sean Casey at first to take a hit away. Manny blasted a home run over the green monster in the fourth inning. The Yankees were able to muster a few runs off Beckett in the sixth but The Sox came right back with a three run inning with a big double belted by Manny with first base open and two outs.

Beckett after throwing just forty pitches in the first five innings appeared to be wearing down in the seventhm, was relieved by Manny DelCarmen. Manny struck ouy the only batter he faced.

A few more defensive gems made in the eight inning with great plays back to back form Lugo and Drew.

After a two hour rain delay with two outs in the eight and two on Pabelbon came in relief to strikeout Alex Rodriguez on three pitches. He strikeout out two in the ninth to post his fourth save.

Red Sox VS Yankees first battle of the year

Ok now the Red Sox season officially begins with the first series against the Yankees. The first of eighteen games between the two teams. The Yankees dominance in the past in terms of championships has been overshadow by the two recent World Series championships the Sox have won in the past few years. The monkey has been lifted from the backs of the Sox and the pressure to win for the Yankees is growing enormous.

Although very early in the season no matter what the standings are, the rivalry of the Red Sox and Yankees is like none other in sports.

What is the next chapter in the heated rivalry? With a lot of new players on both sides who is going to be the player to keep this rivalry heated? Tune in and find out this year as both teams should be neck and neck all the way to the end.
