Johnny Damon hits wall, ball sits on top of Wall
When the New York Yankees play the Boston Red Sox you can always expect the unexpected. By yesterdays game has the strangest play you’ll ever see in baseball.
With two men on base Kevin Youkilis hit a deep fly to left field. Johnny Damon leaped and caught the ball. Well not exactly he caught it till he hit the left field wall. The ball popped out of Damon’s glove and landed on the four inch wide wall and sat there for at least two seconds. The ball rolled off the wall into fail ground. Johnny Damon sat up not knowing where the ball was. A Yankee staff member started yelling and pointed to the ball, that was resting on the ground behind Damon. Damon got the ball and threw it in. Kevin Youkilis ended up with a triple and two RBI’s, tying the game.

Johnny Damon makes great catch
Curt Schilling out for season

Curt Schilling said today that he was having season ending surgery on Monday. He said “they have to relocate his bicep muscle and may have rotator cup surgery as well, if I don’t have the surgery, then my career is over and if I do then my season is over”.
He was asked about the tragedy “hey I know somebody at age 26 in stage 4 of cancer giving her 6-9 months to live that’s a real tragedy, I’ve had a successful career and this is nothing, I don’t care if I come back, at age 41 who knows”
He said “I played 22 years and have pitched ver 3000 innings so there is no tragedy here” Also added “If I do come back I will have to work five times as hard as I have ever done before, rehabilitating”
I think his career is over, age 41, 22 years in the big leagues, a couple of World Series rings, there’s not a lot to accomplish at this stage. I just wish I got all the money he got this season for not pitching.

How sweet caroline got started at Fenway
Growing up and going to Red Sox games I never remembered sweet caroline being played at Fenway Park, I do remember it had began to play around the late 90’s but I wasn’t sure how it got started. Apparently it got started by Amy Tobey the teams music director from 1998-2004 after hearing it played at other events. When John Henry bought the team in 2002 it became the official song and was to be played in the eight inning.
Sweet Caroline is a catchy tune by Neil Diamond but the song really has nothing to do with baseball but has become a Fenway tradition and a staple with the Red Sox. The Red Sox even had Neil Diamond throw out the first pitch this year at Fenway. I bet Neil Diamond never imagine this song he wrote back in the 70’s would be so popular still today.
Game 8 Red Sox 5 Detroit 0
Red Sox first home game celebrated the 2007 World Series championship. In front of a sellout crowd they received their championship rings. It was a liitle noisy at fenway for their opener. How sweet it is being home after a long long road trip.
Matsuzaka (2-0) gave up four hits, seven strikeouts, and four walks in 6 2-3 innings. Red sox starters are still walking to many batters.
Kevin Youkilis three hits and two RBI’s. Tigers had only five singles and two errors for a frustrating day. Detroit has now lost all seven games to start the season.
Game 5 Red Sox 3 Toronto 6
Toronto celebrated their home opener with a crowd of 50,000 and a win over the Red Sox 6-3. Shaun Marcum had the Red Sox off balance until J. D. Drew hit a three run homer to tie the game in the seventh. The crowd was subdued after J. D. Drew’s homer until Frank Thomas hit a go ahead double in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie.
Marcum allowed only three hits and one walk over seven innings. His only mistake was to J. D. Drew who took him deep.
Terry Francona said. “until J.D Drew’s swing he had his way with us, he threw an outstanding change-up that missed a lot of bats. He tied us in knots”
“He mixed all his pitches up well,” Drew said. “He had me off balance most of the night. I was just able to keep my hands inside on a cutter in.”
Ellsbury made a spectacular catch on a drive to deep center only to drop it when he hit the wall.
Boston’s relief did not help. David Aardsma started the seventh and walked David Eskstein, he was replaced by Javier Lopez. Lopez gave up a single to Shannon Stewart, Manny Delcarmen replaced Lopez he retired the next two batters before Frank Thomas hit a two run double. Thomas’s double put the Blue Jays up for good.
2008 Game 4 VS Oakland A’s
Jon Lester got his second start and just like Dice-K his second start he faired a lot better in this outing. The Sox beat Oakland for the 3rd time in 4 games. David Ortiz hit his first home run of the season.
